THE FUE (FOLLICULAR UNIT EXTRACTION) METHOD IN HAIR TRANSPLANTATION IS THE PROCEDURE TO MOVE THE PATIENT’S HAIR FOLLICLES FROM THICK AREAS TO THIN AREAS ONE BY ONE. TISSUES ARE EXTRACTED WITH A SENSITIVE TOOL AND PLACED IN THE RECIPIENT AREAS. IT DOES NOT LEAVE ANY SCARS IN THE FORM OF A LINE OR ANY STITCH SCARS, THUS THE DONOR AREA BECOMES INDISTINGUISHABLE WITHIN A FEW DAYS.
This technique performed without using any surgical blades is based on extraction of hair follicles with a special needle. Extraction of hair follicles one by one rather than in groupings has reduced the tissue- damage in an incomparable degree against the conventional methods. Therefore, it is the most preferred method in hair transplantation.
How long does this procedure take?
It differs from person to person depending on the hair loss. It may take a few hours in a single session or be repeated for two succeeding days.
What kind of a technique is used?
Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) technique is a procedure based on the use of a device. Therefore, the type of the device used for this procedure affects the result of the hair transplantation significantly. In fact, the development of extraction devices ensured the improvement of hair transplantation technique.
Where can the FUE technique be applied ?
It can be applied to the scalp, face and body. If the person does not have a full baldness but only some openings in some areas, the person himself is used as a donor. Because the hair needs to be harmonized with the areas without hair loss.
However, if there is full baldness in facial area like eyebrows, beards or moustaches or other parts of the body, like chests, transplantation from other donors can be made.
